Ulrika Paemurru’s exhibition centers around head and neck pieces in brass and stoneware, which bring together archaic materials and contemporary shapes, and create an impression of prehistoric artefacts without actually referencing any particular historical culture. The project invites viewers to find meanings in the symbolism of the works and to create their own mythologies based on personal backgrounds and interests. The artist has a background in Egyptology and is fascinated by the idea that people haven’t really changed with time – we are still bound by the same worries, pains and questions as humans from thousands of years ago.
